SENIOR CLASS PLAY Going on Seventeen, a comedy of youth in three acts was presented by the Senior Class on March 31, 1949. The play took place in the living room of the Carhart's during midsummer. The plot is based on the visit of Joan Lansing and her sister, Lillums and the Town Topics, a magazine edited by Buddy Carhart and his friends. Excitement and humor prevailed through the play. Somerville Graduate of Central High School Class of 1897 Born in Barton, Maryland, William Somerville attended public school there until his family moved to Lonaconing in 1892 when he was enrolled in Central School. He was a member of the first class to be graduated- l897-from Central High School. Qlt is believed that William Somerville was the only boy to have been graduated in Allegany County that yearl. Following his graduation from Central High, he attended what was then Allegany County Academy in Cumberland-the building now occupied by the Cumberland Free Public Library. Finally he matriculated at Uni- versity of Maryland to study law and there received his LL.B degree. Since then he has practiced his chosen profession in Cumberland, Mary- land. Mr. and Mrs. Somerville reside on Washington Street in Cumberland, Maryland. They are the parents of three sons.
