l . . -ali SOCIAL DANCES During our final year at Central there have been a number of success- ful dances. The annual Hallowe'en Dance, the first of the year, was held by the Seniors on October 29. The gym was decorated in orange and black crepe paper while black cats, pumpkins, and skeletons appeared at the least expected places. The fun house contrived by Paul Johnson, was one of the highlights of the evening's amusements. Wanda Groves and Eddie J. Kenny were chosen Queen and King of Hallowe'en. Senior boys were in charge of refreshments. On November 28, a Harvest Dance was arranged by the Juniors. Their color scheme was yellow and blue. Kathleen Woods and Billy Johnson were crowned Queen and King of Harvest Time. Plaid shirts and blue- jeans were worn by practically everyone. A Sports Dance was sponsored by the girls Physical Education Depart- ment on December 10. The medley of colors used helped to accentuate the big fireplace in front of the stage and to give an atmosphere of coziness and informality. During intermission a floor-show was given by Frances Schlerth, John Foote, Merrbaugh Twins, Shirley Green, Helen Whiteman, Jeanette Kirkwood, Phyllis Alexander, and Eleanor Whitefield. Mr. McCullough took pictures of several entertainers and of dancers during the evening. The Seniors held a Poverty Dance on February 4. Shirley Lucas and Bobby Taylor were proclaimed Queen and King of Hobos. Anything that could be found served as decoration. Although a poverty dance, there was an abundance of fun. Now we come to the dance that all upper classmen look forward to- the Junior-Senior Prom. May 27th was the date, the Aristocrats sounded the melody and rhythm for the light fantastic toes . Each girl in her evening gown was a vision of loveliness, while every boy seemed to be radiantly happy with his dream girl. A perfect dance? Yes, one long to be membered. POVERTY POVERTY KING QUEEN
