GIRLS BASKETBALL Under the leadership of Coach Elva Love Davis the girls basketball team was victorious in five of its eight league games. Then, too, they won all the non-league games played. The girls won the Class C d Championship Tournament when they defeated Bruce. They entere the state games playing their first game at Beall with Middletown. . . h. This team will lose two of its players this year both members of t IS year's graduating class:-Dorothy Jean Johnston, forward and Colleen Smith, guard. Next year there will be four regular holdovers in addition to several reservesp So prospects for next year are most encouraging. BOYS BASKETBALL GAMES The Teamwork of the Central Tigers Basketball men of 1948-49 re- sulted in one of the best seasons for several years. As the season advanced the team showed steady improvement, thanks to Coach John Meyers. The team played nineteen games throught the season winning thirteen and losing six. The season was highlighted for Central when the Tigers defeated the Allegany Campers-the first time since 1941 by Central. Here's hoping the Tigers do it more often in the future. During the season Central won three and lost four in Class A g won one, lost none in Class B and won none and lost two in Class C g won eight, lost none with Class D schools. Central tied Bruce for third place in the Western Maryland Interscholastic league with five wins and five losses. The most important games were played with Fort Hill, Bruce, and Alleganyg although the games with Barton, Beall and Pied- mont were exciting, Donald McKenzie and Raymond Ralston were the leading scorers for Central. Bobby Lee excelled as a play maker. Martin Eichhorn and Kenneth Burt excelled in snagging rebounds. Prospects are good for a better season next year. CENTRAL OPPONENTS Central ..... Accident ..
