SENIOR CLASS HISTORY Many of us have been in the same class ever since lst grade, but when we entered the first year of high school, some elected the academic course while others, the commercial course. Nevertheless we all were Freshmen together. Our May Queen attendants that year were Shirley Morton and Char- lotte Barber. Our class representatives in Student Council were Colleen Smith and Ruth Lee Cuthbertson. September, 1946 we returned to Central as Sophomores and felt more at home in high school. Edythe Alexander and Norma Kitzmiller were our attendants to the May Queen. The heralds that year also came from our class-Colleen Nolan and Norma Jean McCormack. Our represen- tatives in Student Council were Dorothy Johnson, Phyllis Goodwin, Mike Campbell, and Ruth Cuthbertson. Mr. Delaney, mathematics teacher, left us at mid-year. Our new math- ematics teacher, Mrs. Ketter, finished out the year with us. A Biology Club was organized under the leadership of Mr. Hodgdon. We had many wonderful times on our field trips. Biology was much more interesting because of that club and those trips. As Juniors we held our first class meeting and elected officers. Ruth Cuthbertson, President, Ann Broderick, Vice President, Charlotte Barber, Secretary, and Raymond Ralston, Treasurer. Mr. Hodgdon was our class adviser. Our first problem was to raise money for the Junior-Senior Prom. We sold hotdogs, candy, and pop at all the basketball games. We held a bake sale at Atkinson's store, and had a Harvest Dance in the school gym, we also had a movie and a Valentine Dance. Then to highlight the year, we entertained the Seniors at the Junior- Senior Prom on May 28th. We danced under the pink and blue deco- rations from 9 to 12, to music by Ted Williams and his Aristocrats. Everyone pronounced it a really perfect prom. We received our class rings in January. Naturally, our rings are just about the loveliest we have ever seen. In our Senior year, Ruth Cuthbertson was elected President, Jeanette Gowans, Vice President, William Neff, Secretary, and Raymond Ralston, Treasurer. As a class project this year we worked and published what we thought was one of the finest yearbooks in the history of Central High School. Now that it is time for us to leave Central we begin to realize just how much this old school has meant to us. We hope that as a class and as individuals we have measured up to the fine traditions set up for us and left for us to preserve.
