1943-1947 CLASS HISTORY As Freshmen we entered the ninth grade in 1943. There seemed to be a very long road ahead for us to travel. But the years passed quickly until finally we have reached our goal. In our Freshman year, we elected Mrs. Byers as our sponsor. And we'll never forget how excited we felt to be able to attend the Senior High Assembly Programs. It was during our Sophomore year that the Christmas Cantata The Childe Jesus was presented in which most of our class took part. Several of our classmates left during this year to get iobs and to ioin the Armed Forces. Dorothy Wilson was the beauty of our class and school during this year and was crowned at the Halloween Carnival. During our Junior year, we began to feel very important. We ordered our class rings and held the Junior-Senior Prom with the Aristocrats furnishing the music. Hot dogs were sold at basketball games to help raise the money for the prom. The Student Council was reorganized this year. Our Senior year began successfully with the presentation of the Georgia Jubilee Minstrel . A formal election to select our Student Councilmen was held and the officers were installed during a special assembly. A Christmas play was put on under the direc- tion of Miss Cline and Mr. Derry at which Leslie Goodwin, the president of our class, was presented the staff of Leadership. We were thrilled to have with us this year a group of veterans, who, upon coming back from the war, wished to continue their education and earn diplomas. Now that this has almost been accomplished, we want to wish you boys good luck in your future undertakings. Name cards and announcements were selected, pictures taken, and the Yearbook Staff chosen to publish for the second year The Centralian , before we began to realize that the end would soon be here. Our class will be the second to wear caps and gowns. The class colors are red and silver and the flower is the red rose. Now that we have completed that long road, we think of the many happy experi- ences we have had along the way. We hope that the rest of our days will be as happy as our School Days'1: We sincerely hope that all fifty-eight members of our class will be ever faithful to their teachers, friends and alma mater.
