LEAH SILVER French People are becoming increasingly more aware of fhe need to have a working knowledge of another language. Central offers four foreign languages: Spanish, French, German, and Latin, with the plan of providing a basic background in the study of these languages for the students who are interested in learning a little more about the world in which they live. Learning con often be fun As We Read History. . . In civics we did research and discovered what our own career opportunities were. We studied city, state, and national government, the history of our democracy, and relationships between peoples of the world. We finally began to realize that we are small but important parts of our society, school, and country, and that other people are, too. History taught us of mistakes of past civilizations, and the greatnesses. We learned of great men, places, and events, and tried to relate Greek and Roman philosophies to modern America. We learned of the changes that have taken place in our country, and we tried to predict the future from the past. We read newspapers and studied current events in government class. We examined the constitution and tried to realize how we have changed and yet kept our basic philosophy in the past years.
