Central is a melting pot of youngsters, their ambitions, and their experiences. These words were spoken by our hard working assistant principal, Mr. Merlin Richard. As a member of the Central staff for 36 years, Mr. Richard has taken real pride in his work, working with stu- dents and faculty every day. He spends many hours taking care of the accounting, attendance, and welfare of the Central student body, and is most interested in helping those students who need a friendly hand and a bit of advice. Mr. Richard stresses the importance of the high school record in a student ' s future life and goals. I guess I do a little bit of everything. Mr. Harter, our Head Counselor, is one of the busi- est men on the Central stafF. His duties include preparation and guidance of seniors in choos- ing their future plans, co-ordinating the IBM equipment for scheduling, and organizing the testing programs and scholarship applications. Although he has countless responsibilities, Mr. Harter still finds time to listen and talk to stu- dents who need his guidance. This being Mr. Harter ' s last year at Central, we wish to extend our thanks to him for the many years he has spent with us. Mr. Daniels, acting Junior High principal, is a personable member of the Central staff. His duties involve many hours spent in planning the futures of our eighth grade students. He han- dles all disciplinary problems which arise in the Jr. High building and takes an active interest in all Jr. High activities and accomplishments. Mr. Daniels has been a member of the Central stafF for 25 years. He believes that the young people of today are strong individuals and will be able to acquire the important initiative that is needed to succeed in today ' s world. These men form the backbone of Central High School faculty and student body. It is impossible to express in this volume the amount of work and time they have contributed in order that we might be a better school, and our stu- dents finer citizens. MR. RICHARD, our assistant principal, MR, DANIELS, Junior High counselor and acting principal, and MR. HARTER, our head counselor are always available to help us with our problems. 19
