.-W., if Ho iiier me 1 iniiy REFLECTIONS lt is a quiet September morning in 1946. Dreamer P. l-lilltopper is starting his last year in Central. Beam- ing, he passes through the mighty portals of the great- est educational institution east of the river, south of Michigan, and north of Wealthy, His struggle to get into the last row in clearsight of some brain's paper and within range of his favorite brunette takes up the rest of his morning. Thirteen new teachers, he muses as he travels with iaunty step to l-louseman Field for football practice. His discontent about the continuation of after- noon record is forgotten as Coach Charlie lrwin makes him run around the track a few times. Uneventful days follow, nothing but school work. But here comes the 20th of September and Centrals first football game. Dreamer boards a bus for Lansing to watch our gridiron heroes in action. Much to his consternation Central loses, but the gaiety and laugh- ter on the bus help lessen the pang of defeat. A few days later at the Senior Mixer he falls over the couple in front of him while performing the intricate steps of an old ritual known as the Virginia Reel. The administration schedules a program of paid assemblies throughout the year to aid in the cultural and scientific development of the student. On Septem- ber 24 Donald Scott Morrison, actor and pianist, makes himself up as Bach, Chopin, Debussy, and Gershwin, and gives an exhibition on the harpsichord and the C.H.S. piano tout of tune by at least a note and a halfj. and toei out cla.

Y-Toon: rc-tidy lor duty awhile? October opens with our next door neighbor, the Helios Bi-Weekly, opening its sales campaign. The second day oi October DP. drags himself to the cafeteria with considerable apprehension. A doctor with a shiny hypo is waiting to give our hero TB. inocu- lations. Two days later he has recovered enough to watch Union's Red Hawks nose out Central 28 to 7, On the 8th he goes grumbling to an assembly the second hour, his vacant. Dirty tricld His resentment is forgotten, however, as he watches the dramatic demon- stration of electronics, radio-activity, fluorescence, and phosphorescence given.by Dr. Harry C. White, former industrial relations director of the General Electric Com- pany. Taking time out from his open-mouthed awe at the effect Gounods Ave Maria has on the oscillograph, he, nevertheless, speculates idly on the effect the One o'C1ock lump might have had. The l5th of October brings Dreamers parents to school to inquire personally about his progress - the results have not been made public. Next come the senior elections. After listening to the speeches and gazing at the many political signs cramming the senior session room, DP. votes A alterf nately, beginning with the first name on the ballot. The MEA convention on the 24th proves a welcome interruption for our Dreamer. A new system of visual education is inaugurated on November l with the showing of Romeo and Iuliet for English classes. ,DP finds Romeo rather slow. Pride and Prejudice on the 8th he likes better. ound me hillun int r ID .Orb l
