Central-32--Bearden-7: After a first quarter exchange of touchdowns, the Bobcats offense began to move. Touchdowns were scored by Sizemore, Severance, Bridges and two by Crosland. The entire Bobcat team stood out in stopping a strong Bearden team. Central-0--Erwin-19: Cen- tral lost their only game of the season to the Erwin Blue Devils i9-0. Central's offense couldn't get going at the right as Bobcat drives were stopped at the 25,2 and i5 yard lines while Erwin used a stolen ball and afumble recovery to a great advantage.

football Captained by Jack Roberts and Earl Crosland, the l956 Bobcats enioyed a fine 7-'I-2 record. Jack Roberts, Charley Severance, Paul Slagle, and Jim Lockwood were named to the All-County Team. Severance was also named to the All East-Tennessee team. The Staley Hensley Blocking Trophy was awarded to Bobby Arden as the outstanding blocker. Ralph McCarter received the Payne Award for the best four year scholastic average. Paul Slagle and Jim Wells were named captains for next year. Our Captains, Jack Roberts, right and Earl Crosland led us to a very successful season. Jack was named to the first All-County team, while Earl was named on the second. Central-l2--Everett-7: Two blocked kicks, one by Charlie Severance, the other by Bill Cole set up the necessary touchdowns need- ed to beat a tough Everett team. CHS-22--West-O: Ralph McCarter recovered a West High fumble and Wolfen- bargar carried l8 yards for a TD and the Cats were off and running again. Crosland and Bridges scored two more touchdowns to make the score 20-0. Neely then trapp- ed the West ball carrier in the end zone for the final two points. Central-6--East-6: Central opened their T956 season with a disappointing 6-6 deadlock at the hands of a stubborn East team. Cen- tral's offense got rolling only once as they were held by a stout East line. Central-20--Bradley-l8: Against Bradley, Central played their best ball game of their season. With four regulars sidelined with iniuries, Jonny Wolfenbarger stepped in and led Central over very highly regarded Bradley.
