JUNIOR CLASSICAL LEAGUE The Junior Classical League has enioyed a large membership and good programs this year. Its activities have been written up in TORCH, the national magazine ot the J. C. L. The league has protited by the Eastman Edu- cational Kodachrome slides, Many members participated in the Latin exhibit in the library during Latin Week and in the Nationwide Latin examinations. Personal address stickers were sold to detray club expenses this year. A Valentine Party and late spring picnic were the social events of the year, i, l.

Row 3: Ray Hatmaker, Walter Perry, Joe REGULAR CENTRALITE In i953 and 1954 the Regular CENTRALITE -increased its circulation by about 250 papers while publishing nine issues during the year. This increased circulation was due to more and better features and the efforts of the circulation staff. The staff held its meetings after school on the first and second Tuesdays of each month. The big proiect of the year was a six page issue on April l, containing extra features and April Fool stories, iokes, and iabber. The staff attended two newspaper confer- ences, the East Tennessee Scholastic Press Association held at Fulton High School on March 24 and the Tennessee High School Press Association held at the University of Tennessee on April 2 and 3, The CENTRALITE became a member of the National Scholastic Press Association and the paper was submitted for iudging there. Row 4: STUDENT COUNCIL This year the Student Council elected group representatives as well as class representatives. There were several standing committees that worked throughout the year. Several proiects were undertaken during the year. The first was to have music in the lunchroom. For this purpose the Hi-Y bought us a jukebox, A new plan was set up and carried through for class elections. Posters were put up in the lunch- room emphasizing orderliness and cleanliness. Council members picked up paper on the campus during study-halls and after school. A panel participated in the program of the Tennessee Association of Student Councils at Oak Ridge.
