i DEBATING TEAM The Debating Team has won a maiority of its debates this year. In the American Legion Tournament, where they debated the national debt limit, the members placed second. The purpose of the Future Teachers of America is to instill in young people the desire to teach and to become acquainted with the profession as a whole. On February 24 four FUTURE TEACHERS girls were representatives to the Council of Southern Mountain Workers at Gatlinburg. The Second Annual District Convention of the F. T. A. was held March 5 at the First Chris- tian Church. Each year a senior girl from each chapter competes for the S100 scholarship presented by the Delta Kappa Gamma Society. Central's chapter raised money to present a scholarship to one of the senior members in recognition of his outstanding achievements. Future Teachers meet on the first Wednesday of every month.
