During his school days at the old Central High School, Mr. Bellows was a prominent athlete, starring in baseball and basketball. After graduating from Ohio State University in 1905, he studiedhart in New York. When 27, he was made an associate member of the National Academy, the youngest man to be so honored in this country. The Hall- garten Prize, awarded to him five years later, brought him full member- ship in the Academy. His paintings won for him international recognition in the World of art. To his career was added another success when, at the Carnegie In- ternational Exhibition at Pittsburgh, his painting of three of his rela- tives won him fame in the face of competition with the best works offered by both Europe and America. Central is fortunate to have secured last year, permission from Mr, Bellows to reproduce in the 1924 annual one of his drawings, Sunday- 1897, a sketch of Mr. Bellows and his mother and father, taking their customary Sunday afternoon drive.
