The Tale of Tutsky 1 f-X as OGIE OOGIE WAWA roared Kmg Tut sometlmes known as 4 mf li- 4 E103 Pr1nc1pal Townsend as he summoned h1s natlves to open the xxgkf gates that shut h1s kxngdom Tutsky off from the rest of the In walked 150 mummylets QEgypt1an name for fresh1esJ to be greeted by thelr elders the mummors fJun1orsJ and the mummles Csenlorsj How the mummors and mummles made iun of them for brlng 1ng sultcases to carry thelr chlsels and hammers needed to 1nscr1be thelr lessons on stones' Queen Tut CLady Bellj took the dear llttle mummylet glrls under her wmg and lnstructed them how to dress and Just exactly what cosmetlcs they were permxtted to use They could use the wh1te sand known as powder whlch was found along the banks of the N1le but as to the red sand Wh1Ch made pretty p1nk cheeks oh my no they mustnt touch It The mummylets were then taken to Pyramld 26 where they llstened to a lecture glven by Perxes more often known as Lady Pratt and where they were glven flat PIGCCS of stone upon whlch were carved their schedules What a tlme they d1d have trylng to find the dlfferent pyramlds upon the steps of whlch the classes were held One mummylet actually showed her 1gnorance by asklng where the camels were to rlde her to the dlfferent pyramlds From the lunch room came odors that 1nd1cated there was somethlng worth whlle 1n thls land of rocks and sand Mercy' everythlng was so strlct The boys and glrls must eat on the steps of the Lunch Pyramld or on Pyramlds 3 and 6 If they hngered too long at the mountaln s1de to read the notlces whlch had been hammered thereon they were sent to Pyramld 26 and had to Slt there and envy the other mummylets who were play1ng 1n the sand or wadlng ln the Rxver N1le Soon Tutsky entered a football contest w1th the other klngdoms but owmg to the Welght of the stone ball and the tenderness of the team s feet Tutsky lost the champlonshlp by one game And then came what was called the Co ed Prom It was the first year that Tutsky had ever had one and for once the mummylets were urged to attend Just as much as the mummxes were They were dressed every way except ln thelr natlve Egyptlan costume How the ballroom a vast cave 1n the s1de of a mountaln was l1ghted up! How the Jazz band played' The rubblng of a small llmb agalnst a large one maklng a squeaky sound composed the v1ol1n A p1ece of camel's hlde, stretched over a hollow rock, made the drum. The plano conslsted of a row of hollow stones of d1fferent SIZES whlch were hammered wxth a hammer, produclng many dlfferent tones. Q Y S Pgrhxfys 41 of a saxophone 1f the fingers were sl1d from one hole to the other carefully A bag filled wlth sand and rubbed back and forth on a rough rock makmg a hlssy snaklfied sound completed the orchestra These lnstruments when played slmultaneously produced the sweetest melodles The next year when the mummors fwho had been last year s mummyletsl returned to school after a happy vacatlon they were greeted wlth some good news Klng Tut called them lnto h1s presence and told them a wonderful falry l1ke story Alla Baba who ruled over all the schools of the dlfferent klng doms had promlsed to bu1ld Klng Tut a new klngdom It was to be xn a far dlstant land where pup1ls d1d not wear the Egyptlan costume dxd not l1ve ln stone tombs d1d not have the1r classes on pyramlds d1d not carve the1r lessons on p19C6S of stone 1n fact d1d ex eryth1ng qulte differently There they would have the1r classes 1n rooms wlth wlndows 1n them They would Slt on seats and have desks They would Wflte on paper wlth some sort of small hght thlng that was called a pencll They were to have where they could sw1ng dumb bells lnstead of stones and a swxmmmg pool There would be no crudeness about the new bu1ld1ng such as there was about the present school but everythlng was to be falry l1ke Indeed It was to be a falry tale come true However th1S new bu1ld1ng was not to be finlshed untll the mlddle part of the next year The mummors dxdn t care though because they at least could graduate from the new place They could go through thls whole year dreamxng what they were golng to do ln the new bu1ld1ng The mummors no longer carrled sultcases but now carrled the1r slabs of stone chlsels and hammers 1n the1r arms Along came Perxes stat1ng that th1s year Tutsky would clrculate 1ts news to the pup1ls every two weeks Prev1ously lt had had certaln pup1ls carve the news of the school on one of the varlous mountaln walls every two months Th1s was a laborxous task and 1f xt was to be done every two weeks Journallsm classes had to be started Perxes took charge of them and lnstructed them how to develop a nose for news Then the fun began Every tlme Tutsky had an assembly the llttle Journallsm pup1ls could no longer have a good tlme or go to sleep but had to llsten attentlvelg and scratch notes upon the1r slabs The best ones were then carved on the mountaln wall One day the glrls could be seen excltedly rushlng about and prlmpxng up Why so 9XC1t8d?
