R.O.T.C. During its five years of existence, The Sam Houston R.O.T.C. has made a com- mendahle record. Since its organization in 1929, it has participated in the city-wide competitive drill in a creditable manner. In 1929 it placed third; in 1930, first; in 1931, third; in 1932, second; in 1933, first. In competitive rifle marksmanship its teams have ranked second, fourth, third, and first consecutively since 1931. During the 1933 football season the corps attended the Beaumont football game and the remaining Houston games as a pep squad. On February 9, 1934, the corps sponsored a dance at the End-O-Main, the proceeds of which were used to furnish sabers and colors for the unit. An R.O.T.C. band is being organized under the directorship of Mr. Michael Spampinato.
