Program Chairmen Ye Olde English Club, which boasts the membership of some of our well known Campus Celebrities, has been in existence since 1931. The club meets monthly at the fourth period under the direction of Miss Drew Staggs, instructor. During three years the club has sponsored three literary volumes, namely, “Houston in a Nut Shell,” “Footprints In The Sands of Time,” a biographical account of graduates who have “made good,” and a collection of biographies of each class member, all of which have received commendation from the local newspapers. The club also directed and “hooked up” the first and only radio broadcast ever pre¬ sented at Sam Houston. Among our celebrities are Herbert Holm, Class president, Mary Reth Peterson, Class vice-president and most beautiful Senior girl. Myrtle Lee Robbins, most representative Senior girl and Editor-in-chief of the Cosmos, Mace Tungate, assistant editor of the Cosmos, Charles Crosson, school debating repre¬ sentative, Heinz Ritzen, who won 2nd place in extemporaneous speaking in the Interscholastic Meet, Retty Kendall, club editor of the Cosmos, Evelyn Dailey and Fred Jones, winners in Interscholastic Spelling Contest.

SAM HOUSTON ORCHESTRA The Sam Houston Orchestra, under the direction of Cedric Seaver, has enjoyed a most successful year. The orchestra participated in many affairs, the most outstanding being the Music Festival, which was held in place of the usual City Orchestra Contest.
