I almost envy you seniors upon your graduation from high school in such an interesting period in our history. The opportunities that confront all of you during the next fifty years are almost unimag- inable by the best minds of this generation. Most of us have been so surprised at the wonders of science in recent months that the course of activity of our own nation is somewhat confused. Soon many of these problems will have to be, and will be straightened out. Whether you like it or not, you are being thrust into the midst of all the chal- lenging things that are happening in this old world of ours today. I know that you can clearly see the tremendous challenges and opportunities that these conditions present to many graduating high school seniors. There has been no time in the history of our country that has called for so many of you to go to college as the present time. So, if you have a yen and a desire to pursue whatever course you may decide upon to share in these wonderful opportunities, please make the best of it. Lose no time in preparing yourselves to perform any task that may be asked of you. Just remember that the next fifty years can be just as glamorous, ex- citing, and worthwhile as the youth of today de- sires. Sincerely, Harry D. Simmons, Superintendent Congratulations, Seniors: Within a few days you will receive your diploma. Will that diploma mean that you have learned that you will accomplish nothing worthwhile except as you work for it, honestly, persistently, hard? That you have learned the importance of congenial human relations in a spirit of unselfishness? That you have received the deep satisfaction that comes only to him who has found a great cause for which to live and labor? That you have discovered that life without God is empty, senseless, without ulti- mate purpose? If so, you are truly blessed. What about the next part of your journey through life? Remember that all things come in many grades and qualities. When given your choice, pick the best. Travel first class with your ideals. Make no compromise with perfection. Pay the premium and you will get the best values. When you explore the realms of literature, travel first class. Pay the price and garner the priceless. Dig deep for rare gems of truth, thought, and action, and garnish your character with them that you may cherish sweet memories. Wherever you travel in life, travel FIRST CLASS, is my challenge to this grand class of 1958. Sincerely, B. L. Wertz, Principal
