I I NTRODUCTION The totem pole is a symbol of strength and unity. It represents the firm union of many different elements in a common, in- divisible bond. Each design, outstanding in itself, blends in peace and harmony with all others. As the totem pole relates the story of community life for the Indians, so does the CHIEF tell the story of Central's life. In selecting this theme, we wish to rec- ognize the achievements, support, and co- operation of groups and individuals that make our school strong and unified. 2 3 DEDICATION In his many years of service dedicated to the advancement of education, Mr. J. F. Wahl has been an inspiration and guiding light. His diligent effort and tireless work have made possible the opportunity for each student to seek and attain a superior education. We dedicate this book not only to Mr. Wahl and his worthy accomplishments, but to the high ideals for which he stands. 4 DMINISTRATION The strength of the totem pole is only as great as the foundation on which it rests. The instruction, support, and guidance of the faculty and administration are the parts of the foundation on which the student builds his life. 8 9 ADMINISTRATION George H. LASSES The bonds of friendship and achieve- ment that unite the members of each class are as firm and interwoven as the intricate carvings of the totem pole.
