NEWPORT — The Indians defense held twice when Newport threat- ened. The score after this tough conference game was 13-13. JACKSONVILLE - Despite a downpour of rain. Central easily defeated a sluggish Jacksonville team by the score of 25-0. However, Central made 180 yards in the air against the Mustangs secondary. BRINKLEY The weak Brinkley team was fired up, but to no avail, as the Central offense out- scored them 19-13. DeWITT - At DeWitt the Indians were underdogs, but they proved themselves the better team by scoring on a long pass play to win 7-0. STUTTGART — In the next con- ference game Central held the Ricebirds to a scoreless tie. In- dian defense held on the goal more than once. WEST MEMPHIS - In the last home game, Central put on a show against the outmanned Blue Devils. Scoring 37 points in the last half, the Indians rolled to a one-sided 51-0 victory. JONESBORO — In a sub-freezing rain at Jonesboro, the big Hurri- canes scored once in each half to take a 13-0 victory over Cen- tral. MARIANNA — In the last game of the 1959 season Helena won the Thanksgiving Day game 35-0. The Indian defense and of- fense sparked all afternoon as Marianna gained little and gave up much.
