This was probably fhe firsf 'Facul+y meefing +ha+ Mr. C. J. Anderson had missed in more +han 25 years, 'For he was a man, acrive, alerf, and puncfual in his 'faifhfulness +o fhe every day duiies of life. No+ only was his absence keenly 'Fell' af +ha+ +ime, buf from day fo day in hall and classroom his con- freres and s+uden+s have been reminded +ha+ one of Cen'rral's mos+ loyal friends and one of fhe profession's mos+ valuable members was losf on June 26, I943. The announcemeni' of his dea+h came as a shock +o all who knew him, for he had confinued regular in his round of daily dufies un+il a 'Few days before fhe end. Teaching was more fhan a means of livelihood 'ro Mr. Anderson: if was his life. Leaving +he s+a+e of Sourh Dakora aboul 28 years ago, he came +o Ten- nessee and soon +hereaf+er lo ChaH'anooga where he became affiliafed wi+h Cen+ral High School as Head of' +he Indusfrial Ar+s Deparfmenl. Mr. Anderson was a creaior of beau+iful +hings. He +augh+ his boys nor only how +o design and make beauiiful pieces wifh hammer, saw, and plane: buf by his own exemplary life he also faughi' rhem how fo build characrer and fashion lives on an uprigh+, honesf foundafion. For his kindly undersfanding, sinceriry of purpose, and high moral srandards, he was honored and respec+- ed by all who knew him. In her freasure house of precious memories, Ceniral will ever cherish rhe un- selfish service, +he undivided loyal+y, and +he high ideals of +his fine Chrisfian genileman-Charles J. Anderson.
