QI- 1930 CHAMPION -XD N days of old when knights were hold it was customary for knights to ride out and attack evil forces. 'f A Before one could become a knight he must spend a period in prepara- tion and trial. To he a good knight one must have character. He must be strong, brave, and loyal. I-Ie must be temperate, courteous, clean, and courageous. I-Ie must be supple and efficient in the use of his weapons. 'I' hose qualities required training and self-sacrifice. Students of Central are knights in train- ing for service. Evil forces are present in the world today just as when knighthood was in flower. Looking from the watch-tower of Castle Central I see the tents of the black knights. I see Ignorance with his attendants. I see Poverty with his emaciated following. I see Disease with his cohorts. I see Selfish- ness and Greed with their company. I see Sin with his grinning devils. What an op- portunity for true knights! Students of Castle Central, I herald you. Prepare! Seniors of -Castle Central, I knight you. Forth to the conflict! Bear with honor your escutcheon Purple and Gold. 4 5 .. l A Ki ll JC t
