For the past few years the band has received superior ratings for its concert endeavors and has a high sight- reading rating, also. In addition to contests, the concert band presents various programs for the entertainment of the public. Each member of the concert band is required to practice a minimum of three hours per week. Nobody minds, though, for band offers a rewarding experience for all those who contribute to Joe Sills, Director.

The CHS Band can be divided into three different groups-woodwind, brass, and percussion. Each of these groups is composed of different sec- tions. The woodwind sections include the clarinets, flutes, saxophones, and low reeds. The percussion section back up the entire band. Almost any rhythm in- strument can be found in this section.
