Greenwave Triumphs in Finale 44-13 The Central High Fighting Tigers closed out their 1966 campaign on a winning note as they crushed Mun- ,vw ford 44-13. The final record was 6-4. Halfback Ricky Wilhite led the Tigers with three touchdowns, while fullback Larry Price and haliback Charles Simmons each crossed the goal line twice, to account for Centra1's TD's. Tigers Trounce Henderson 39-20 Wilhite dashes for end zone The Fighting Tigers won their fourth Volunteer Conference victory in a row with a 39-20 conquest of the Henderson Eagles. After trailing early in the game 7-0, the Tigers retaliated when Charles Simmons returned the kickoff 65 yards to the Eagle 20. Moments later, fullback Ricky Wilhite scored on a short run and end Mike Henry kicked the PAT, to tie the score. The Tigers went ahead minutes later on a short 3 yard burst by Wilhite. In the second quarter, Wil- hite notched his third TD of the night as he scampered 60 yards to paydirt. Henry con- verted and the Tigers led 20-7. However, Henderson rallied to tie the score 20-20 at the half. Central came on strong in the last half. In the third, Simmons and Wilhite each chalked up a TD. The last Tiger rally came when Tommy McAna11y stole an enemy pass and raced 55 yards to the goal line. 14-23 Savannah Halts Tigers The Green Wave's bid for the southern division title of the Volunteer Conference was put down as a hard-fighting Savannah team defeated the Tigers. Central's first touchdown was recorded when senior guard Duane Hammons recovered an enemy fumble in the end zone. End Mike Henry kicked the PAT.
