5922 00 THE CEHI 0 1922 Q E! 0 pf QV For some tlme ln the mlnds of members of the faculty as well as of the puplls there has been growlng the realization that as a school unconsciously we have been placlng our emphasls upon thmgs of secondary not primary Importance Not that we should regard athletlcs less but that we should honor scholarshlp more Wxth thns ln mmd Mr Marshall appolnted a faculty commlttee to con sxder appropriate means of showmg appreclatlon of the scholastlc vlctorles won by the honor pupils As one possible means to thls end the committee communlcated with the natlonal honor soclety The Torch whlch IS stlll ln its mfancy As thls organlzatlon has but recently revised lts constltutlon lt was found lmposslble to do anything dehnlte toward afhllatlon this year The new constltutlon IS now ready and later steps may be taken to form a local chapter of The Torch at Central lf that seems desirable A purely local recognltlon was therefore planned lt was declded to establlsh an annual honor roll day with a special programme for the members of that roll The commlttee planned also to present to each member a bronze pm as a mark of dlStll'lCtlOH for the Intellectual success thus far achleved A com petltlon for the design for this pm was thrown open to the student body The design that appears Wlth this artlcle made by Scott Smith was chosen The dxe for the pm IS to be presented to the school by the present senlor class The puns wlll be provided elther wholly or ln part by the other class organ lzatlons lt IS hoped that these pins will carry wlth them somethlng of the slgnlflcance ln their llne that IS attached to the C ln athletlcs The utmost we can do IS none too much to pay as a trlbute of pralse to those who have made so slgnal a success ln the llne whnch above all others Justlhes an exlstence as a Hlgh School success along scholastlc lmes We ICJOICC to pay homage to our honor roll wlth all for which lt stands May they always lead ln the worth whlle things of llfe I ' . s 5 .
