' , A large American flag in front of the room and a picture of Queen Victoria in a less prominent place suggests the studies to which the room is devoted. American and English History are taught here by Miss Pollock, and taught so well that her pupils never lack interest in the subject which she renders so attractive. There is an im- pression abroad that Miss Newson is a sort of fiery dragon, likely to swallow you any minute. VVe feel we should remedy this mistakeg if handled with due care and caution Miss Newson is quite tractable. Certainly she makes her pupils swallow their Eng- lish Literature, and erstwhile teaches them much COI1'1I1'1OI'l SCTISC.
