This is Oklahoma's Golden Anniversary year, but every year is a golden year at Centralg there- fore, the 1957 Cardinal is devoted to a two-fold purpose. First, we are paying tribute to our state, the forty-sixth, and the best in the forty-eight, on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of state- hood. Second, we are providing a memory book for our students, especially the members of the grad- uating class, who found that 1956-'57 was truly a golden yearn at Central. The Sooner State has become a leader in feeding the nation with its beef and its farm and dairy products, keeping transportation rolling with its oil and gas production, educating the nation's youth with its outstanding programs for F our-H clubs, Future Farmers, and Future Home- Memories of makers, entertaining tourists with its many recrea- tional areas, and thrilling spectators with its tre- mendous sports program. 1907 to 1957 . . . fifty years of progress . . . tepees to towers . . . arrows to atoms . . . carriages to Cadillacs . . . trails to .tumpikes . . . settlements to cities . . . wilderness to wonderland . . . this is Oklahoma! Central students are proud of the leadership, the friendliness, the get-up-and-gof the loyalty, of the citizens of our state. Happy Fiftieth Birth- day, Oklahoma! Centralites are proud to be a part of the larger Soonerland tradition, but we are also proud of the accomplishments of our own school this year. Here in this book are the memories of our GOLDEN YEAR!
