IN '55 The Central choir made many appear- ances both in school and before civic groups. The activity shown here, singing Christmas carols in front of the school, attracted many passers-hy as listeners. The Cards arrived this year with the able assistance of such teachers as Mrs. Gladys Been, who in 1954 acquired her second Master's degree, Mr. Lewis Eu- banks, who in 1954 was named Okla- homa's Coach of the Year, and Miss May- belle Conger, only teacher in the country to have two students in the finals of the national speech contests in 1954. The Cards arrived in 1955 also he- cause of the individual eforts of many students. Wayne Hensley, Student Council president, was also a junior Ro- tarian, governor of Boys' State in 1954, one of Oklahoma's two representatives to Boys' Nation the same year, state speech winner, and national speech final- ist. Nadine Holyfield, only a junior this year, has already made a name for her- self in Oklahoma City music circles, and is a state winner in flute contests. johnny Pennington has three times been chosen to occupy the position of first chair in the trombone section of the state high school massed concert hand. ,si at I' 4- -fl Y my 1
