Dolphins RE you a swimmer? The girls that be- long to Dolphins are and want to become more proficient at diving and swimming. Then, too, they like to be able to have recre- ational swimming. Every Monday the club meets-first for a business meeting and then later in the swimming pool. Any girl at Central may join if she can pass certain tests. Candidates are judged on their abil- ity to perform the required tasks. . .Ac- cording to custom, the three neophytes this semester, Joyce McGinnis, Lorraine Moulis, and Beth Scherr, gave a feed for all the old members On May 29 l94O the Dolphins held a splash party in the pool Competition was keen among the girls who participated in the games Prizes were awarded to the winners The inevitable feed followed This year the club was head ed by Phyllis Schubert president Helen Winter vice president Betty Pawlak sec retary Jayne Nixon treasurer Ruth Spears, S. T. C. representative, and Miss Dorothy Jahn, adviser. . .Last fall the girls were divided into two teams which compet- ed with each other in swimming lengths. The leaders of the two teams were Mar- guerite Fish and Louise Funk. Peg's team defeated Louise's team, l286 lengths to 983. Individual honors went to Beatrice Johnson, first, Jayne Nixon, second, and Josephine Colman, third. To make compe- tition keener, the members decided that the losing team had to sponsor a feed for the winners . . . At Christmas time, Dol- phins sponsored a Christmas basket and each girl brought a ten cent gift to be dis tributed by the Red Cross to needy fami I es This semester the girls d cided to concentrate more on diving and life saving Even though many of the m mbers have Junior Life Saving badges there is a pos sibility that badges may be earned by others by the end of the year T1R C Alb! lNL C h Wt kE Cpll EH TbdR Hg Ed R p Page 98 . . .
