William T. Macdougald Vice-Principal I lx' L17 - ', h 3 , ' X . A A K LEQQE 1. ,I A Meymge to Om' Vice-Principal The graduating classes of january and june 1956 wish to express their sincere gratitude to our Vice Principal, Mr. Macdougald, for the helpful advice, guidance and friendship he has given us all. As he came to Central as Vice Principal the same year we entered as sophomores gives us a special claim on him. We like to think of him as a member of our class, but so loyal to Central that he will remain for an extended P. G. course. Mr. and Mrs. Macdougald's presence at almost all school affairs has not gone unnoticed or unappreciated. We hope we have absorbed some of their school spirit and loyalty. We will not forget the untiring effort he has given our class, and he will long be gratefully remembered by us all. Editorial Staff 9

Principal In the process of completing a high school education, you acquire a substantial degree of varied knowledge in the expectation that, through its use and application, you will later achieve some measure of success. To one person success is the attainment of a specific long sought goal, to another it denotes financial independence, to some it is the realization of that pleasant state of being happy and useful in life, to others it connotes primarily the establishment of satisfying per- sonal relationships in daily life pursuits. It is the wish of your principal that through determination and accomplishment, you will gain the particular type of success most re- warding to you personally-contingent upon your individual aspirations. In the fulfillment of your ambition, however, be tolerant of others! Be open minded in honoring the opinions of your friends and fellow workers, for proper recognition of the inherent rights of those about you is an essential basis for harmonious living. One must constantly remember that the privilege of all to enjoy liberty of thought and expresssion is an American heritage. The steadfast exemplihcation of tolerance in your future relationships can be a constructive and domin- ant influence on your ultimate success. HOWARD G. LEWIS Howard G. Lewis

Acting as counselor for the classes of 1956 has been most pleasant and interesting and it is my sincere wish that the knowledge, skills, and culture acquired during the years at Central will enable these graduates to meet successfully the challenge of the years that lie ahead. JENNY M. PALMER H3592 We congratulate each graduate of 1956 for his successful achievement-with the hope that it may be only a foretaste of a far greater achievement-one that will merit the reward for a good and faithful stewardship.
