Like other schools all over this nation, Central has gone to war. Some of her sons have made the supreme sacrifice on the battle fronts. Others are now engaged on those fronts and still others are following in their steps. Some are employed in war industries and their numbers are being increased almost daily, ln our class rooms, emphasis is being placed upon preparation for participation in that same war effort. ln the coming months, this preparation will be intensified many fold. Thus they are contributing loyally to the achievement of victory, which now seems almost certain even though we know not when it will come. But an even more important need is the assurance of a lasting peace that will give future generations the benefits of our way of life and the freedom it affords. We hope that, in the years succeeding our victory at arms, sons and daughters of Central will have the wisdom and the initiative to make their influence felt in the forging of that lasting peace, at home and abroad, for themselves and their posterity, HORACE l-l. l-IENDRICK 1 I is . .-5 K.
