We wish to convey through the pages of this book, the many ways in which we all may serve our country both on the battlefield and in everyday lite. ln the years to come, we shall perhaps, peruse these pages and recall the many happy days we spent at Central. L A Grave Responsibility As this issue ot Black and Gold goes to press, our beloved country is' in the midst ot the most terrible vvar ot all time Our graduates know that theirs is to be a grave responsibility, a rare and high honor,-that ot saving America by actively helping to vvin this vvar. Some vvill do this in our armed torcesi Others vvill contribute their share in industry or commerce, or on the home tront. All vvill, vvithout tail, prove to the tull the worth and sincerity ot their patriotism in the grimly dangerous days that lie ahead, May they come through the struggle unharmed and successful.
