By little teachers we mean the ones who are not quite full-fledged members of a faculty but who some day will be. In other words we have an organization at Central called Future Teachers of America. The F.T.A. was organized in I953 by Frances C. Walter. The purpose of this club is to interest students in becoming good teachers and to cultivate qualities of leadership, character and scholarship. . NK D I A 7'7ayw- . 7 FIRST ROW: left to right: L. FT 0 fr. ,rn BLMSR. 5 1 1151! Student Council This legislative body discusses questions of importance to the school and students Back in l922, when Central was known as Commercial High, there were a Boys' Council and Girls' Council, and each group considered problems of their sex. It wasn't until 1925 that Student Council was formed. Thus our school is student gov- erned by a council which promotes well-being and cooperation among teachers and students. Miss Genevieve Griffith, vice-principal, is the advisor. They'll Make You Walls The Student Court The purpose of Student Court is to guide the wayward pirates onto safe shores. In other words, to right the wrong and to help prevent mistakes. A Student Court member has to be elected by his homeroom, screened by the advisor and approved by the other teachers. Jane Reamer, the new advisor, began serving the second semester of '54, The chief iustice presides over the meetings. The records are kept by the secretary and clerk. The iudges present the case, and the bailiffs take the student offender to the court room. Court meets the third period every day. H Kent Pfeiffer worked faithfully with court for the past I0 years. ,fit ,, . . A lx Tl t .fm A 6259, J as Mvl I LIE. FIRST ROW, left to right: C., Chapman, trees., T. Clark, . pres., D. The odor of fresh paint, the bright drawings, the kindly teacher, and industrious students paint a delightful picture. The Bellows Art Club was organized in i926 for the purpose of cultivating a finer appreciation for art. Variety shows, poster advertisement for various organizations serve as an all around art service to the school. All of this keeps the pirate artists clearing the easel .
