Maybe they're playing for the football game today, or leading a parade honoring the town's most eminent citizen, or just giving the home folks an eyeful. I Through years of practice the Central Falls High School Band has merged its individualities into one. Its members have learned lessons that will last them through life,-to play together, march together, work together. In March of this year the Lockwood Band united with the Central Falls Band for the annual concert. One of the features of this concert was the ap'- pearance of a group of baton twirlers organized by band director J. Edwin Con- ley. Likewise, Central Falls joins with other bands in presenting concerts outside the city. A yearly event anticipated by Central Falls band members is the presenta-- tion of band medals to the Seniors of the group. l56l

THE STUDENT COUNCIL Weekly this group meets in Mr. Young's office to discuss problems con- cerning the student body and its activities. The Council consists of ten students' nominated by the classes and chosen by the faculty. Qualifications for the Student Council are first, an ability to lead: and second, a willingness to coop- erate. OBSERVER The Observer, the high school pu.blication, is a four page journal, con- sisting of school news, editorials, literary articles, an eavesdropper and Jokes. It is published by a board made up of editors and reporters and is under the direction of Miss Bott. The purpose of the Observer is not so much to be a newspaper, as to be one of the school souvenirs to which a graduate can turn in later years to freshen up old memories. LATIN CLUB The Latin Club really has some accomplishments of which to boast in this the fourth year of its organization. The club published a twenty-four page Christmas newspaper written entirely in Latin. Two food sales were held which financed the Club's section in the year book and made possible a trip to Boston during the April vacation. In Boston, the Club members visited the Museum of Fine Arts and the Agassiz Museum in Harvard University.
