Our congratulations to Central's 1949 football squad, coached by Harry Scarff. The Ram's victory packed season was started by a win over Mt. Angel. For the second time in two years, Central reached the State Tour- nament, only to be defeated in the quarter-finals, this time by Grant High School of Portland, who later became state champs. The Rams entered the tournament by defeating Scappoose for the second straight yeah With only nine lettermen to return next football season, it yet pro- mises to be a successful one. Highlights - Don Svhwenk intercepts a Mt. Angel pass in the end zone and gallops 102 yards for a touchdown. Ray Mosbrucher named most valu- able player. Bob Cassidy and Tom Maddocks named on Grant all opponent team. Cassidy, Maddocks, and Mosbrucker named on Portland All-Star team.
