ages V gl 'sl V gil T VAIEDlCTORlAN AND SALUTATORlAN Leading our class as it nears the coveted goal of graduation are DONALD STRODEL, Valedictorian, and RUTH BUESCHER, Salutatorian. For four years they have set the pace for their classmates in schol- astic endeavors. Congratulations! May they continue to show the en- ergy and perseverance which has brought them these honors. Bobay as officers. The Shamrock appeared for the first time as a printed paper published by the senior journalism class. A tea dance proved successful, and another State Basketball Championship was added to our imposing record. Work began on the Echo and in quick succession came the Senior play, our annual lake party, and the senior prom. At last came graduation, the proper point from which to survey the past, judge the present, and estimate the future, before setting forth with renewed efforts. Looking at the last year impersonally, we find it no more than another step in the school's progress. But, of course, it meant much more to us. This year and the three preceding years form in our lives a period that can never be equalled or repeated. Graduat- ing as the charter class of the new Central Catholic, we proved that we are working to make America worthy of God's favor. The Senior Class History is merely an outline, the memories that it represents are within us. FOUR YEAR HONOR STUDENTS St rodel, Ruth Buesclier. Standing: James O'Connor, Donald Seated: Roslyn Didier, Ann Adang, Carol Suelzer, Patricia Kilkelley. Page 17

Page 16 E IOR CLASS HI TORY It seems only yesterday that We entered the half-finished structure that was later to be Central Catholic. Our classes were interrupted by the passing of brick elevators and the hammerings of the workmen. For nearly three months we dodged ladders and cans of paint, but finally the building was completed. Then upperclassmen took over at the be- ginning of the second semester and We Were reduced to our proper state of vassalage. This biggest freshman class ever to enter CC was well represented among' the scholastic mono- gram winners. A sizeable number of boys turned out for athletics and many girls joined the G.A.A. The basketball team won the State and National Championships. Our class officers for the Hrst year were Dick Krouse, carol Suelzer, Joan Arnold, and Dick Ham- brock. We began the second lap of high school as sophisticated sophomoresn. Again large numbers of the class Won scholastic monograms, and again we Won the State and National basketball championships. Back we came in the fall of 1940 to begin our career as upperclassmen. Early in the year We selected Bob Huttinger, Mary Jane Berghoff, Catherine Schone and Dick Krouse as our junior class officers. That year We published the Shamrock, joined the Dramatic Club and appeared in plays. Our initial venture into the social whirl came when we spon- sored a junior skating party in May. Then for the first time we were permitted to at- tend the prom and later the senior tea dance in June. Still thinking of graduation as an obscure event, we returned for our last year at Central Catholic. We elected Tom Offerle, Mary Jane Berghoff, Dick Krouse, and Rita SENIOR 0FFICERS Dick Krouse ......,.,,,,,,......,, Treasurer Mary Jane Berghoff, ,,,s,,,,,,,,.. ,..., Vice-President Rita Bobay ....... ,,,..,,,..
