Fundamental facts about living things are studied, showing interrelationship between plants and animals and their common service to man. Stress is placed on the fact that (lod created everything for the use of man to assist him in working out his eternal destiny, the salvation of his soul. In the physiology clas: ' es students are led to realize that they are the builders of their own physique. They are given valuable in¬ formation on the intelligent care of the body. The course is open to all students, hose who intend to study medicine, hope to enroll in a nurses’ training school, or work towards a degree in dietetics or home economics will find this course especi¬ ally helpful as a preparation for their future work. ' 1 hrough observation and some e.xperiment, the student learns to value more the air he breathes, the food and water he consumes, the earth he walks on, the heavens he dwells under, the ever fascinating plants and animals that sur¬ round him, and the heat, light, electricity, and machinery fhat fill his world. y athematicA Students enrolling at Central Catholic High as freshmen find on their schedule, among other subjects, freshman algebra or general mathematics. As the freshmen become orientated in their mathematics classes they begin to see why they are studying mathematics. Habits such as neatness, patience, careful and discriminate thinking, formation of correct judgments, accuracy, honesty, and perseverance are the worthwhile goals set before the trainees. Students learn from classroom experiences that achievements in mathematics are satisfying, but they also discover that outcomes which cannot be measured by tests are even more important. Attitudes, habits, skills, and appreciations are developed. Students who pursue the study of mathe¬ matics during their four years of high school can’t help but appreciate the beauty of truth, especially the eternal and unchangeable Truth, (lod. ' I ' hey ought to be able to think things out for themselves and get correct solutions to the complex life problems—they received adequate training in the techniques of good thinking.
