Qiicons orl In room 42, the boys’ art department, sketching and oil and water color technique, learned in the freshman year, are applied in the junior and senior years to posters and illustrations for the com¬ mercial field. Beyond this theoretical background since art is also the right making of things, finished problems are carried out in ceramics, wood car ing, metal-craft, model-building, and leather- crafts. An interesting project this year consisted of an unusual set of stations worked out in symbols. ' These emblems were done in clay, fired, and super-imposed on wooden crosses. Sister M. y athematicA Students enrolling at Central Catholic High as freshmen find on their schedule, among other subjects, freshman algebra or general mathematics. As the freshmen become orientated in their mathematics classes they begin to see why they are studying mathematics. Habits such as neatness, patience, careful and discriminate thinking, formation of correct judgments, accuracy, honesty, and perseverance are the worthwhile goals set before the trainees. Students learn from classroom experiences that achievements in mathematics are satisfying, but they also discover that outcomes which cannot be measured by tests are even more important. Attitudes, habits, skills, and appreciations are developed. Students who pursue the study of mathe¬ matics during their four years of high school can’t help but appreciate the beauty of truth, especially the eternal and unchangeable Truth, (lod.
