e sr xokxh THE HEART AND EAGLE .r fu. .r fu. eu ustory of tlze Cla s o 1 50 By HARRIETT IRoNs NCE upon a tume about thurtv bovs and gurls started out on a Journey For sux years they struggled through ruvers of ruthmetuc over mountauns of readun rutung and spellun Funally they reached Camp unuor Hugh Under the durectuon of Muss Larolune Buckley they gave a program as a mark of theur achuevement A pruze was awarded to the best penman un the class Lva Turner and also to the one havung the hughest grades Duplomas were presented to all of the class They also had theur furst try at dramatucs thus nught when they presented the play Rescued by Raduo After three months of rest they agaun started on theur journey from the seventh grade Football basketball and other sports un competutuon wuth other schools made the trup more unterestung They got to go on theur hrst sneak day wuth the Hugh School whuch was much more excutung than the just plaun pucnuc they had always had before Two years later they arruved at Fort Greenue Although they escaped unutuatuon except to carry wood for a rally they were never allowed to forget that they were very green Thus class dud not have as many people partucupatung un athletucs as some of the other classes but the few they dud have were stars They were very proud of theur hugh scholastuc standung Frances Sylvester had the hughest average un hugh school that year Several members of the class went to Saluda to take part un the Scholarshup Contest Camp Sophomore was the next stoppung pount They dud not feel quute so greeuu now They stull mauntauned all of theur hugh standards of the year before A thurd pruce un General Informatuon was captured by Frances Sylvester one of the members of the Scholarshup Team thus year The next year they were no longer just Lower Classmen but unuors and partly theur own bosses One of theur ambutuons was to guve a successful unuor Senuor banquet Sunce they must have money to do thus they set out at once to eam ut They sold subscruptuons for magazunes then gave the unuor dance whuch was lots of fun even uf ut was not a funancual success Funally un May they gave the banquet whuch was pro- nounced one of the best ever guven and they felt quute repaud for all of theur hard work Four ,Iunuors Ermadean Burns Prusculla Alluson l'rances Sylvester and Harruet Irons went to Gunnuson for the Scholarshup Contest thus year Twenty-give .. .... , u' . .
