♦ CENTENARY BAND With the return of football, the Centenary Band, directed by Bill Causey, worked many hours to bring us outstanding half-time entertainment. Under the leader- ship of Drum Major Bill MacDaniels and Twirler Herbert Diebner, the band spirit zoomed to an all-time high as they put on an impromptu show in the rain and mud at the Central State game. The enthusiasm exhibited by the band members at football and basketball games and on parades was only a reflec- tion of that shown by the band sweetheart, Miss Beverly Stovall and the band mascot, Billy Causey, son of the director. Other band activities during the year included a long-to-be-remembered trip to Houston, two short trips to Natchi- toches and Ruston, chapel programs and concerts. The Maroon Jacket Drum Corps was also an outstanding addition to the band on the football field and at parades. Herbert Diebner

With a trip to San Francisco as a start- ing point, the Centenary College Choir has made this year the greatest in its history. After singing for the Lions ' In- ternational Convention and giving its first network broadcast in Frisco, the Choir broadcast again from Los An- geles and gave concerts in three cities on the trip back to Shreveport. During the school year the Choir has appeared over 36 times in the Ark-La- Tex area. This year also marked its second season in a weekly, sponsored radio program. Representing Centenary and Shreveport, the group sang on a nation wide broadcast originating in Shreveport in January. They sang from the Choir Shack on the college campus — an old building remodelled by the Choir members for a rehearsal studio.
