' ■ v.. fm • L The Gents thought they had the upper hand in this game, but were disillusioned as the McMurray Indians of Abilene, Texas, stormed back to overtake them. After receiving the second-half kick-off, Jerry Potter ' s punt gave the Gentlemen their first score. This was set up by a series of passes and wide end runs. The second touch- down came early in the fourth quarter when Eck Hunter faded back to his own 40-yard line and tossed a beautiful aerial. Jess Walton took, it on the one-yard line. But when the final gun sounded, the Indians were out in front 20-12. McMURRAY DEFEATS GENTS James Haygood Lamar Eberhardt James Johnson

Jerry Potter The Centenary team was unable to cope with the nifty blocking of the Central State Broncos from Edmond, Oklahoma, and went down on the small end of a 20-7 score. Late in the second quarter the Gents took the ball on a kick-off and retained pos- session of it until a deadlock in the contest. Then, starting on their own 35 yard line, the Gents made a series of passes, the top play being a beau- tifully executed screen pass from Carl Brewington to Jerry Potter. Pot- ter carried the ball to the Broncs ' one- foot line tor a 26-yard gain. After Brewington crashed over the goal line, Jewel Humphries converted. The Moccasins sent the Centenary Gents reel- ing with a lightning thrust early in the contest and the Gents were never able to recover from it. This 20-0 defeat was a bitter one for the Centenary team as it marked the first time they had failed to score since their return to football.
