Another old and active organiza- tion on the campus is The French Club. Under the capable direction of Dr. E. L. Ford, it continues to grow in number and activities, and gives much prestige to the Lan- guage Department. Students who are eligible for membership in this group must maintain a " C " aver- age in French. The industrious ones who acquire the desired average and interest, meet month- ly for discussions, games, and re- freshments. The purpose of the club is to furnish the student with the op- portunity to increase his knowl- edge of the French language through conversation. Members: Joan Airey, O. J. ' Vice President Charles Raines Secretary Dick Bartholomew Treasurer With the debate question, " Re- solved: that a federal world gov- ernment should be established, " the Centenary chapter of Pi Kappa Delta had both an exciting and educational year. The season was begun with a warm-up meet at Millsaps College, in Jackson, Mississippi. At this tournament the club won over half its debates and gained much ex- perience. Plans were then made for the Azalea tournament at Mo- bile, Alabama, but cold weather stood in the way. A joint adven- ture was undertaken whereby half of the club went to the Northwest- ern meet and the other half to Georgetown, Kentucky, to the Blue Grass tournament. A good show- ing was made at both of these tournaments. The year was con- cluded with the regional meeting of Pi Kappa Delta in San Antonio. Members: Dick Bartholomew, Robert H. Briggs, O. C. Edwards, Glen F. Graves, Nathan Joyner, William Parker, Charles A. Raines, Quinton Raines, Robert Regan, John E. Thomas.
