Mr. Richard Walters, previously of Pikesville Senior High, joined the administrative staff as Assistant Principal. Mrs. Janice Meekins and Mrs. Mary Jane Park joined the staff as administrative secre- taries. A new homeroom schedule confushed many at first, but proved to be a great improvement in policy. 1a WECM A TION nemtmmrcmmontnrneg siptyee ee ISAAC AYCOCK Assistant Principal MARGARET TOLZMAN Administrative Secretary 22 ED KELLY Dept. Another worthwhile change was the addition of the Guidance In- formation System. The GIS is a comput er that enabled students to research a cer- tain college, in detail; or for those seeking an occupa- tion, it aided the students in the choosing of a specific field of employment. The system was certainly helpful to all students whether they were pursuing a Career or were college bound. LOREN C. SIMMONS English 11, 12 GARY BLAKENBURG English 12; Creative Composition ANN F. For all who attended, the mixer was ‘‘excellent.”’ Vision Lights the Way On the evening of November 7, 1980, the Junior Class held the Ring Dance featuring the band, ‘‘Vision.’’ Due to the ex- cellent turnout of students, the dance was both a financial suc- cess and a memorable occasion. Nice catch! Junior Class applauds their rings. eon On the night of December 20, 1980, Catonsville Senior High School held its Annual Homecoming Christmas Dance. The theme of this even- ing varied somewhat from years past. It focused on sim- ple traditions; homemade decorations, a live tree strung with popcorn, fresh holly, and mistletoe. The dance’s success can be attributed to the effort and spirit of the social commit- tee at C.H.S. An “Old Fashioned Christmas” You Can’t Take It With You This year, the Catonsville Drama Department, headed by the direction of Robert Harkum, presented the 1930's English comedy, You Can't Take it with You, on the nights of November 14 and 15. BSU Fashion Show SS NTT RR RR The Class of 1982 held its Junior Prom on Saturday, May 16, 1981, in the CHS gymna- sium. The music was provided by the band Snowblind, who played very popular selections including the theme song ‘‘The Best of Times’’. A majority of the people danced to the good tunes, while those who did not wish to had plenty of places to sit and socialize. The gym was decorated very simply and the class gave out memorable favors. The class had a very successful prom where every- one seemed to fully enjoy themselves. The Best of Times The traditional CHS Senior Day was, as usual, a day of fun- filed events. The day began with the parking lot parade and the movie, Animal House. Then, the kiddies trekked through the midst of the over- cast day to begin the games. Although the weather was mis- erable, the wet grass added to the enjoyment of the games. Soon after, a delicious lunch was provided, and the students listened and danced to the band, Core. The ever-popular pie throwing contest was once again a favorite to all. Ellipsis This year’s staff of the school literary magazine, Ellipsis, continued the trend of producing a high quality magazine. Under the supervi- sion of Gary Blankenburg, the Ellipsis staff coilected the finer samplings of literature com- posed by CHS students to place in the May publication. Also included in the magazine were pieces of art work submit- ted by the CHS art students encouraged by Charles Reisenweber and Keith Lauer. The collaberation between the English department and art department as well as the patronage of the community made this year’s Ellipsis issue a reflection of the talent which Catonsville students possess.
