Further down the hall we can hear the steady clank of the printing presses as Clatonites learn the art of typography. Turning the corner. we are met by silence. as math students strive to grasp the concepts of geom' etry, algebra, and trigonometry. From a classroom we hear the constant clicking of typewriters as students hur- riedly attempt to complete their letters for the day. Many of these students are taking the commercial course which requires a year of science and intro- duction to business. Proceeding down the hall we sense an inviting aroma of baked cookies. Here, academic, general, and commercial students study the required courses of English and social studies. At first the hall seems to be serene, but as we pass the English rooms, we hear a teacher reading Poe's poem, The Bells, to his class. Glancing in the next door, we see students working on a bul- letin board, which, by a series of posters, explains the theories of Freud and Adler. In another room, the students are grouped around a model stage, discussing the production of a Shakespearean play. Approaching a window, we pause to get a view of the velvet campus. On the lower Field we can see the varsity baseball team practicing. The cur- riculum is the most important part of Catonsville, but the teams, the committees, the school paper- all of these add the glow that a school needs to be unified and spirited . . .
