Question, please! The Reverend Martin W. Flahavan and Reverend John J. Hooper, seen during the annual January Retreat, discuss the advantages of a question box with Barbara Frankowslii and Barbara Santmyer. Father Flahaven also conducted the Senior Recollection Day, May 27. Surely we graduates have had privileges in living through the reign of the Saintly Pope Pius XII. Now, in our last year of spiritual and intellectual growth at TCHS, and about to step into a new, adult world, we think it significant that the Church, too, is embarking on new paths. How well we recall the world ' s joy as radio and television cried, We have a Pope! His Holiness, Pope John XXIII, has proved to be a man of God — holy, intelligent, delightfully humorous. Someone has likened the present Holy Father to Saint Francis. We like the comparison, for the spirit of the Poverello — the spirit of Christian joy and loving devotion — fills the halls of this Franciscan school. We can think of no more harmonious and healing spirit for today ' s fear-ridden generation than Pope John ' s God-founded serenity in the face of tremendous responsi- bilities. Your Holiness, at the beginning of your Pontificate, we ask you to accept the deep veneration, sincere prayers, and filial good wishes of the faculty and student body of The Catholic High School of Baltimore. Mis Moliness Pope John mil His Holiness . ' POPE JOHN XXIII Q Vicar of Christ on Earth .
