THE FRESHMAN In June, 1953, fresh from the admiration of Mother and Dad, the envy of little brother, the splendor of eighth-grade graduation, three hundred of them came to The Catholic High School. In their right hands they clutched the passports to a new life —their blue transfer cards. In their left hands—well, in some left hands—they clutched mother! They, we ex- perienced seniors knew, also clutched at little straws of thought: Who will my homeroom teacher be? How shall I ever get used to changing classes? If I make the Varsity what will Pop say? Shall I really look nice in the uniform? September will it ever come? Well, September came, and June again has come, and in these pages you will see those little freshies—some of them You!—who weathered the transition from grade to high school and are now seasoned travelers of the Highway.
