The Cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary is the Mother Church of all churches in the United States. Here on April 1 1, 1948, Archbishop Keough addressed Baltimore high school students urging them to support the mission crusade and to take Mary as their model and protector. 'Preparing for Tomorrow1 The Reverend Leo J. McCormick, Ph.D., superintendent of schools in the Archdiocese of Baltimore, opened the school year with Holy Mass. He exhorted students to develop their personality quotient while making the most of scho- lastic opportunities.
