' Our Treshman year was appropriaTely opened wiTh The Holy SacriTice oT The Mass by our Principal, FaTher Harbauer. We soon become acquainTed wiTh our Teachers: FaTher Nolan, The one and only Teacher oT ancienT hisTory: FaTher lvleara, our maTh Teacher, and FaTher Loughran, our English Teacher, who had The unique ymeThod oT Teaching, -ei-Ther you 'learned -your English or you became The .bru.nT oT The board of educaTion , As Treshmen we showed our loyalTy To school and counTry by Talcing honors in The SixTh War Loan Drive. We gave our supporT To CaThedral's TirsT baseball Team, coached by John Hend- riclcs, To go To The sTaTe Tinals. IT was a successful year Tor us, excepT Tor The sad loss oT RoberT Baulos, a classmaTe, who passed To his eTernal reword. The Fall oT '45 Tound us reTurning To CoThedral as Sophomores. We were no longer recognized as cooTies . We were iusT plain Sophomores who ThoughT we lcnew everyThing buT lcnew very liTTle. We well remember FaTher Noonan's famous saluTaTiovn aT The beginning oT class, Pencil and paper. Also anoTher quoTaTion ThoT will long be remembered is, ATTenTion, please. A public address sysTem had been in- sTalled by BroTher DroleT, reaching all The class rooms. BroTher BeaTTy presenTed his annual Sophomore play. The baslceTball Team reached The sTaTe Tinals under The guidance oT Coach AI Lewis. We had now reached The upper braclceT of our high school career-we were now Juniors. This yeor passed very TasT producing new boolclceepers and chemisTs Tram The classes of FaTher Clifford and FaTher Shiels. High'lighTs oT The year were The gay parTy FaTher Rua held Tor his Spanish pupils, and ThaT Trip oT The science class To The ciTy waTer planT aT Lalce SpringTield.
