THE SENIOR CLASS Presents The WAY for nineteen fifty-seven THE YEARBOOK CF CATHEDRAL ACADEMY ALBANY, NEW YORK , , FOREWORD As members of the Senior Class of 1957 of Cathedral Academy, we are nearing the goal toward which we have been striving. Soon we shall take our places in the world. Throughout our years at Cathedral we have been preparing for this moment. Here, have been instilled in us principles of Christian social living--our daily associations with the members of Christ's Mystical Body in the performance of our spiritual duties, in the striving for intellectual mastery, in various social activities, in thedaily give and take in the field of athletics. U Now the obligation rests on us as citizens of a Christian society and potential citizens , of Heaven to live according to these ideals. As we retrace ourasteps along the Cathe- dral Way we will show how these principles affect our lives. h C ASS P mo Dedication Faculty S eniors Undercla ssmen C la sses ' A ctiv ities Q A thletics A dvertisements St. Joseph, Patron of Workers i T BLE' OF CONTENTS Pae 6 17 49 57 67 81 91 S- 4 .aud 'l 'l His Excellency, Most Reverend William A. Scully Bishop of Albany DEDICATICN TO CUR. PARENTS 4- DEDICATIO We, the Senior Class of Cathedral Academy, dedicate this 1957 Edition of THE WAY to our parents. Throughout our lives we have benefited from their teaching and guidance. From their good example, we have seen the blessings that come from a good Catholic marriage, From them we learned early in life, the role which our Faith has played in our lives. Through their love and sacrifice we have been able to enjoy the benefits of a Catholic education. But, perhaps the most important gift we have received from them has been a Christian Family life, for as Pope Pius XII has told us, As the building depends for its soundness on the foundation, so does civil society on its primary and essential cell--the Family, which draws in turn from the illumined norms of Christianity, not only its greatest strength, but also its highest sanction and perfection. We have enjoyed the blessings of such a life. .Now it is up to us to use the principles which our parents have inculcated in us so that our families will be the foundation of future society. We pray that we will be able to give to those children whom God may entrust to our care, the love and solicitude we were so fortunate to receive from our dear parents. We ask God to bless them. 5 cum l z The Reverend John F. O'C onnor The Reverend Harold L.
