IQ! 1 ..1. vi w l y DEDICATION 'fgmmmrzali May this Faith be increased in thee, by the Lord, unto truth and eternal happiness, dearest brother in Christll' On October 24, 194-5 this prayerful wish was uttered by our Beloved Bishop Gibbons as he began the Consecration rites of his Coadjutor, the Most Reverend William A. Scully. For the past two years as the Ordinary of the Albany Diocese, you have tried in every way to increase this Faith and to spread the Seed and Word of God among the 322,000 Catholics of your fold. You know the growing needs and demands of our area and because of your keen fore- sight you have made arrangements for the erection ofa number of churches and numer- ous Catholic schools. As the Seventh Bishop of Albany, you have made us aware that there is a special place in your heart for the students of your Cathedral Academy. Your life as a Leader and Guardian has been so inspiring and praiseworthy that to know you is to love you. In grateful appreciation for the major part you play in OUR STORY, we are happy to dedi- cate our final issue of Cathedral's Annual-THE WAY-as a token of admiration and devotedness to you, Bishop Scully. You accepted the burdens of the Episcopal office and have unstintingly proved the wisdom of your motto- TO SERVE THEE IS TO REIGNV' Tomorrow, as adult members of Christ's Mystical Body and Your Flock, we will cherish this paternal interest by begging the Sacred Heart of Jesus, who has had a special claim on you for so many years of your priestly life, to continue His benediction on you and your work while you further the Kingdom of God with increasing strength and courage. 3? as 'ff' i'Q!i-fi l '53 f IKEA A 4 it ., f UII x ,gif nut vklrlfli 6
