, w PRESIDENT DR. DONALD C. DEARBORN To the Members of the Class of 1964: My congratulations to each of you as you complete a significant stage of your life. With- in a few days you will participate in a ceremony of recognition for your accomplishment of the past four years. Your parents, your friends, your teachers will share your just satisfaction. Yet, if you have truly profited from your education to this point, you will recognize that you have only begun to learn. The discovery of truth proceeds at such a pace that one who ceases to study becomes very soon an unlearned man. So I challenge you that each time your mem- ories of Catawba College are recalled by thumb- ing through this book, you replenish your store of intellectual curiosity, of zeal for knowledge. Take down a book from the shelf, imagine your- self in conversation with your favorite teacher, and maintain your place in the community of scholars into which you have been initiated. Truly, then, you will remain a part of Ca- tawba. Sincerely yours, Donald C. Dearborn
