TORCH Staff Rushcd Daily To Meet Deadlines Running to interview a teacher, to schedule a pic- ture, or to type a sports story are all typical for a day in the life of a TORCH staffer. At deadline time everyone wishes for a scooter, their very own typewriter, shorter copy and more time. But the deadline is always met, even if these wishes are not. All of these annual headaches were rewarded when the '61-'62 Torch won first place from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association and first from the National Scholastic Press Association. Planning the Torch Ball and then decorating for it was strictly an extracurricular activity. Another extra M this year was the trip to Arcadia High School to the ' i T yt.lrt ' up Arizona Scholastic Press Association convention. The summer supplement was started when the last pages of the Torch were sent to the printers. Seniors are the only ones who work on the supplement because underclassmen have to start on the 1963-64 Torch so that it will be well on its way to the first deadline.
